University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is seeking an experienced and compassionate fundraising professional. As a Senior Director of Development, you will work closely with clinicians, researchers, and administrators to further all aspects of the fundraising process for UCSF, with a focus on the neurosciences community spanning neurology, neurosurgery, and psychiatry. Major responsibilities of this role include managing the university's relationship with current donors and prospective donors who give or can give at the $100,000 level with a focus on those capable of giving $1,000,000 and above.

You will design and implement comprehensive strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward the highest capacity individuals, build engagement of these individuals, create gift opportunities based on UCSF priorities, formulate and coordinate fundraising strategies, and determine appropriate stewardship plans for significant donors.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. Department Description

The UCSF Foundation and the Office of University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) are responsible for fostering and strengthening the campus outreach efforts to UCSF constituents and for garnering private support for the campus and the Medical Center. In raising private support, UDAR identifies, qualifies, solicits and stewards donors for the schools, medical centers, departments and programs on campus; accepts and administers all private gifts to the university through The Regents or the UCSF Foundation; and manages all alumni relations activities, campus support group activities and campus events. The UDAR office staffs the UCSF Foundation. The office is also responsible for the design and implementation of fundraising campaigns for UCSF


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 10+ years related work experience to include fundraising roles of increasing responsibility
  • Expert project / program management skills, including skills in setting and meeting program / project goals and objectives within budget and time constraints
  • Expert level skills in maintaining confidentiality
  • Expert working knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques
  • Expert knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc
  • Expert written and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies
  • Expert skills in making persuasive and compelling presentations of goals and objectives for a location in order to secure gifts
  • Expert organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of UCSF, UCSF Health, and related entities, including its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure
    • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including skills to oversee, coach, mentor, evaluate and motivate staff
    • Experience in higher education / healthcare/ non-profit fundraising
